“Über Transformation – On transformation“

Chemistry is the science of transformation. And of transcending; from matter to life. A central element in that are polymers. Since their recognition as macromolecular chains in a groundbreaking paper named “on polymerization”, they transformed pretty much every aspect of societal life. Hundred years later, however, it is human life and livability itself that faces its greatest danger; due to an all-threatening planetary emergency. This enforces another unprecedented transition for us all; by design or by disaster. This talk outlines about some aspects in which chemistry and polymers may help to transcend. And it outlines about a personal transition of the presenter when becoming aware of all that.
