Young Investigator Workshop 2016

The 8th Young Investigators Workshop organized by the Division of Organic Chemistry of EuCheMS took place in the wonderful Andalusian location of Islantilla – near Huelva, close to the boarder with Portugal – on 16th and 17th September 2016. Each EU or associated country elected a member of the young community to be the representative at the conference which, this year also benefited from a couple of researchers active in the US. Because of the celebration of the 6th EuCheMS Chemistry Congress in the nearby city of Seville, some of the participants (including who writes) attended the latter as well.

Prof. Pedro Pérez (Huelva) chaired this attractive two-days event with the advice of Prof. Antonio Echavarren (ICIQ Tarragona, Spain), Prof. Veronique Gouverneur (Oxford, UK) and Prof. José Luis Mascareñas (Santiago de Compostela, Spain). The meeting benefited from the presence of Dr Susanne Haak – Thieme Chemistry – who announced a special issue of Synlett – scheduled for the beginning of 2017 – dedicated to contributions by the participants to the Workshop.
